All Hallows’ Church: All Hallows Road, Bispham,

FY2 0AY- Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun.


From 1190 to 1821 this was the only church in the whole of Bispham and Blackpool. Parts of the two churches previously built on site 1190-1773, 1773-1883 have been incorporated into the existing church.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach - Fri only. (new for 2016)
South Shore, Blackpool. Paradise Room, Casino Building

Designing The Pleasure Beach: A lecture by Ted Lightbown (note Professor Toulmin has had to withdraw) on the importance of the designers and artists that have influenced the landscape of Blackpool Pleasure Beach over the decades since the early 1900’s. From the architect Joseph Emberton to leading British designers including Percy Metcalf and Tom Purvis, this lecture will reveal how the park defined its style for generations. This event will take place in The Paradise Room.

The Blackpool Tower is a Victorian Pleasure Complex that opened in 1894. This guided tour gives you the opportunity

Blackpool Town Hall: Talbot Square (opposite North Pier), Blackpool - Sat only.

Visitors will be welcomed at the entrance of the Town Hall and given a guided tour. The history and significance of the different rooms, including the Council Chamber, will be explained.

Central Library: Queen Street, Blackpool FY1 1PX - Friday only

Tours around the Grade II Listed Carnegie Library. The library has undergone extensive redevelopment (2011) which has revealed many of its architectural features. Also, the lovely stained glass windows are one of the new features.

Historic tour of an 1838 mill and exhibition. Refreshments provided. Children 5 years and upwards are welcome providing they are accompanied by an adult.

A guided tour of Funny Girls and the adjoining Flamingo Bar. Opened as the biggest Odeon Cinema outside of Leicester Square, London and one of Blackpool’s premier
entertainment venues. Funny Girls still retains many of its 1930’s architectural features.

The Grand Theatre - Sunday only

The theatre will open its doors to the public this Heritage Open Day for an exclusive look behind the scenes! Featuring a rare opportunity to see archive materials and take part in small tours of the auditorium with our heritage guides. This is a must for fans of heritage, theatre and architecture.

Grundy Art Gallery: Queen Street, Blackpool - Thurs, Fri, Sat.


Tour of the building and gallery spaces including the exhibition (upstairs in the Rotunda) of Archive based display relating to the Illuminations and in the main gallery space, Neon. The gallery is open to the public; however booking is essential for the tours.

Lytham St Annes Spitfire Visitor Centre - Thurs only (new for 2016)

Hanger 42, Blackpool Airport, Squires Gate lane, Blackpool, FY4 2QY (Hangar 1 Area Blackpool Airport. Hangar 42 is access through the Silverline Hangar No.8)

Visitors will learn about the Aviation Heritage of RAF Squires Gate now Blackpool Airport. The Visitor Centre offers visitors the chance to view the iconic Spitfire. Further Information can be found on Facebook Lytham.Spitfire

Masonic Hall: East end of Adelaide Street, Blackpool - Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun (back for 2016)

Tours available on arrival at this 19th century Masonic building. The building was substantially added to in the 1950s and the Hall contains one of West Lancashire’s foremost Masonic Lodge Rooms.

Access to a town centre Christian Church, one of the few faith centres in the area to be awarded with the Marque of Excellence from the North West Multi-Faith Tourism Association for its welcome, heritage and faith information and its service to the community. Open: The pier will be open as usual to the public over Heritage Open Days.

The guided tour will take place on Sunday 11th September: 11.30am.

North Shore Methodist Church: Corner of Dickson Road and Cocker Street, Blackpool - Thurs, Fri, Sat.


Visitors will see a Grade II Listed building, opened in 1907, with art nouveau style stained glass windows with flowers and foliage design. The balcony and choir stalls are of warm mahogany woodwork. There is also an attractive modern stained glass window. Refreshments are available. There will be church walk round our beautiful building and a vision for the future display.

Grade II listed building featuring magnificent stained glass windows and mixture of contemporary and traditional worship areas including military chapel. Access to clock/bell tower with original church bell, bell ropes and hand bells. Stained glass window demonstrations at intervals throughout the day. Homemade refreshments available.

St Paul’s Worship Centre: Egerton Road, Blackpool, FY1 2NP - Fri, Sat, Sun.

Exhibition of photos, memorabilia and documents dating from the building of St Paul’s in the 1890s through to its demolition In the 1990s. This is a hands on experience where visitors are encouraged to examine the exhibits of books and paperwork etc. Saturday morning event will include a coffee morning. Sunday morning is a service of thanks giving for heritage.

Guided tours of the church building, approximately 30-40 minutes. Includes the famous actor’s chapel, believed to be one of two in the world.

Stanley Park & Cocker Clock Tower: West Park Drive, Blackpool. Meet outside the park café - Fri only.

Stanley Park is a Grade II historic park, indicating that it is of great historic significance. It was designed by Thomas Mawson, an internationally important landscape architect. It was opened in 1926. The park underwent major refurbishment recently to return it to its original glory. Take the opportunity to take a stroll around this beautiful park in the informed and entertaining company of Blackpool’s Heritage Guides. This tour now includes the Cocker Clock Tower, climb to the top of this historic tower to get a unique view of Stanley Park.
